My name's Liv and I have had the pleasure of working with children and young people for over 15 years. As you can imagine, it has been a rollercoaster of a ride, but one of the most rewarding parts to my life so far. Now, I want to share with you my experiences, knowledge and little wisdoms when it comes to supporting children with Special Educational Needs and also help more people enter the world of Special Education teaching.

I believe that every child should have the most magical educational experience, regardless of ability and by understanding how we can individualise education, we can ensure every child thrives at school.
My Story
Welcome to The Sunshine Room! I'm Liv, an education enthusiast with over a decade of experience in the field, primarily dedicating my career to Special Education Needs (SEN). Having worn various hats, from a Class Teacher to a Teaching Assistant and SEN Support Worker, my journey has now lead me to support other educators in their careers and I love every minute!

A Passion for Inclusive Education

My mission stems from a deep-seated desire to make a lasting impact on children's lives, helping them unlock their true potential. Over the years, I've had the privilege of assisting a diverse range of learners. One of the most rewarding moments was guiding a child to discover the right communication method for him, essentially 'unlocking' their voice and helping him speak for the first time in 15 years. Witnessing children with SEN thrive both in and out of school, building friendships and honing social skills, fuelled my commitment to help others foster this inclusive approach no matter what setting they are in.

"The Sunshine Room" is not just an agency; it's a legacy to my passion for inclusive education. My motivation to create this space arose from a genuine need to bridge the gap in understanding and support for children with SEN. I've witnessed first hand the transformative power of hiring the right people and making simple adjustments in teaching methods, breaks down barriers to make education truly accessible for all.

Why "The Sunshine Room"? That's my old classroom name and I really do feel like this agency is welcoming teachers, parents, carers, school staff and others into my classroom where everyone can learn something.
